12 October 2016 | Surgeon - Bland Ambition
Anthony Child is unusually prolific in his output this year. While his previous techno releases of 2016, From Farthest Known Objects and Search Deep Inside Yourself, consisted of predominantly atonal, twisted, obscure cuts, redolent of cold cosmic darkness, with Bland Ambition a different approach was taken, which resulted in a much more warm and maximal sounding, one could even say more musical and emotional, with predominantly syncopated drum patterns as opposed to 4x4, although just as previous works of Anthony Child in the past 5 years (if you don't put SRX reissues into account), the tracks on it are not pushing over from 130 BPM, so there is a tendency that's been kept. For some reason, tracks on Bland Ambition aren't given names, but don't let that give you a false idea that similar neglect had been given to production work. After all, if you're confident in what you have created, and you know you've been true to your art, you don't really need to bother yourself with such minor details as titles.
