14 October 2016 | Shifted - Appropriation Stories
Guy Alexander Brewer, whichever moniker he uses, always remains a prominent figure on a techno scene. His kind of techno, being minimalist in nature, is always useful to have in your arsenal when you're doing a set. Majority of his tracks pertain to something seasoned DJs call tools, i.e. tracks that are easy to mix with just about anything. That said, they are interesting and inventive at the same time. Appropriation Stories is hard to call a techno LP in a sense that it contains only half of what we can call techno - tracks two, three, five, six, nine: these minimalist and elegant cuts possess a kind of energy that won't make you jump but will keep you going - the other five being tracks that one could call fillers, but let's not go that way and instead say "explorative downtempo". This is Shifted.
