Scøpe - Rose To The Bait

Seunghyun Kim is a Korean artist who has been producing since 2014 under the name of Scøpe. Rose To The Bait is his 5th EP, and first one on Joton's NewRhythmic Records.

He doesn't start softly and unleashes an army of syncopated, mid-range hats, 131 BPM, 4x4 kicks and a rude wobbling bassline. What follows is slightly more restrained number, one BPM lower, similar in style but full of bleeps and bells, supported by steady hats that are now going hand-in-hand with the galloping kick. Lastly, we are presented with a work of compressed energy, which isn't quite as clamorous as the rest, but in turn possessive of a stressing, low-freq, oscillating bassline and series of ceaseless attacking bleeps that don't let you relax for one second - all that at a tempo of 132 BPM. A very oldschool sounding overall.
